Cheryl Schwartz, DVM.

Holistic Veterinary Care is privileged to welcome world-renowned instructor and lecturer Dr. Cheryl Schwartz to our team of dedicated practitioners. Dr. Schwartz is one of the foremost physicians in holistic veterinary medicine and an early pioneer in the field. She brings inspired Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) care to cats, dogs and horses and has done so in California for three decades. Dr. Schwartz utilizes acupressure, acupuncture and herbal medicine to lovingly treat animals and integrates homeopathy and bio-energy medicine when appropriate into her holistic care.

Dr. Schwartz created the first exclusively holistic veterinary care facility in the Bay Area and was one of the founding members of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. Since 1989, she has traveled the world teaching veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine and training practitioners for course certification.

As an accomplished author, Dr. Schwartz has profoundly impacted the holistic veterinary community (and animal-loving community at large). Her book, Four Paws Five Directions, A Guide to Chinese Medicine for Cats & Dogs has for thousands served as the primary introduction to TCM for animals - explaining the basics and the utilization of holistic modalities in a way easily understood by Westerners. It is considered by many holistic veterinary practitioners and animal nutritional consultants to be the finest book on the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine for animals.

The follow-up, Natural Healing for Dogs & Cats From A-Z, presented information on veterinary holistic practices in a format designed to help pet owners easily look up and address any ailment troubling their animal. Dr. Schwartz also has contributed to multiple articles and texts and is a leading voice on radio and television as an expert on holistic veterinary care.

Dr. Schwartz graduated from Washington State University Veterinary School in 1978 and a year later began the study and practice of TCM. To this day, Dr. Schwartz looks to the animals she treats for guidance and sees them as teachers in her journey - both as a veterinarian and as a human being.
